Vessel Shapes by Ann Norman


All are POT structure, and were started in the centre by splitting one cord through another at its centre point to give a cross. Cords added to each side in turn, working outwards.

Millennium Bell for 31st December 1999 (side view); rug wool with Indian brass bell suspended inside. POT using 1/8 inch diameter cords to give the effect of single colours. Approx. 4 inches high. Second view is from underneath.

Millennium Hangover Bell for the 1st January 2000 (view from side). Rug wool with a (very quiet...) monkeys fist knot clapper, also of rug wool. POT using 1/8 inch diameter cords with strand colours in AABB sequence. Approx. 4 inches high. Second view is from underneath.

"Winter" bowl viewed from underneath. Thick 2ply rayon. POT using solid colour cords of 1/4 inch diameter. Winter bowl is 2 1/2 inches high.
